Frequently Asked Questions

How to buy from us:

Our hours can be very variable depending on weather, crop conditions, etc. See our hours page for the typical times we are open, and our updates page or our facebook page for any special opportunities.

We are located at 1011 Martin Road, Waterloo Iowa–this is just west of highway 63, near the south edge of town. We also sell at the Cedar Falls Farmer's Market near Overman Park. See our contact page for more information.

Yes. We accept most credit cards, cash, and checks.

We do offer bulk produce at times. "Bulk" generally means at least a bushel, which is typically 30-60 lbs depending on the item. Keep an eye on our updates and facebook pages for any offerings of bulk produce, or contact us if there is something you are particularly interested in.

General operations questions:

Yes we do! We are a produce grower first and foremost. We believe that food is better when it is fresh, in season, and grown by people you know and trust, so we do not ship in, or purchase and resell produce from other growers. Don't take our word for it though, drive by our farm or stop out during our hours to see it with your own eyes!

No, we are not organic.

In order to claim to be organic, a producer must be certified by a USDA accredited certifying agent and follow policies, procedures, and product application guidelines that they specify. A common misconception is that organic means 'no spray' or no pesticide use, but this is not the case. To learn more visit the USDA's page on the topic.

We practice integrated pest management to ensure we can sustainably, consistently, and economically produce high-quality produce that is safe for our customers. This method uses a variety of methods including mechanical means, certified organic pesticide products, biologic pest control products (such as beneficial bacteria, insects, and fungi), and conventional pesticide products. We take our responsibility to use pesticides safely very seriously, and try our best to minimize their use and explore alternatives whenever possible. To learn more visit the EPA's page on integrated pest management.
